Melissa High School enrolled only 1,485 students during the 2022/23 academic year. Although that number likely saw a marginal increase in 2023/24, the official numbers have yet to be released.

And while an enrollment of 1,485 is tiny, it is up more than 300 students from 2020/21. The trajectory is only up. Melissa and its schools are only going to add more students as more time passes.

To get ahead of the growth, the school announced in 2022 that it was going to build a $35 million football stadium. Construction finished last year. [BroBible]

Meridian wants to build a $55 million, multipurpose venue that could host indoor sports tournaments, conventions, high school graduations — maybe even dog shows.

First, the city will ask voters to approve creation of the auditorium taxing district that would fund such a project.

The Meridian Chamber of Commerce said the Boise Convention & Visitors Bureau is often forced to turn away large sports tournaments that require indoor facilities. [Idaho Statesman]

Plans for the construction of on-campus baseball and softball fields at University High School remain in place and organizers continue to push towards the fundraising target of $4 million.

University High School was constructed in the Bakers Ridge section of Morgantown and opened in 2008. The Hawks continue to play their baseball and softball games across town at Mylan Park.

If completed, the plan for the on-campus sports complex would call for building of baseball and softball fields as well as eight tennis courts. The proposed construction site is the land to the right of Mylan Pharmaceuticals Stadium as viewed from the press box side of the field.

The $4 million price tag includes site preparation, installation of playing surfaces, and supplementary components. The Monongalia County Board of Education has committed $2 million in matching funds to the campaign. To date, projection organizers say they have secured funds at just over $3 million.
