Wrexham A.F.C. has unveiled plans for a new Kop Stand at their SToK Racecourse home and believe its construction will lead to them staging regular Wales matches again.

The club, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, submitted a new planning application to Wrexham Council on Monday for the 5,500-capacity development.

The Racecourse is the world's oldest international football stadium that still hosts matches, having staged its first Wales home game in 1877, but the men's national team have only played two low-profile friendlies there since 2009. [Daily Mail]

Utah's booming youth sports scene may soon have a new home as two business partners push plans for a state-of-the-art athletic complex.

The facility, spearheaded by Ryan Moore and Levi Bills, is envisioned as a premier destination for local and traveling teams, providing much-needed space for basketball, volleyball, pickleball and potentially ice sports. Beyond athletics, the complex hopes to be a hub for families, with food services, entertainment options and an on-site medical clinic.

Herriman has emerged as a leading contender to host the facility, with city officials eager to explore the potential economic and community benefits. However, as the project gains traction, reactions from parents and coaches vary, with some expressing excitement and others voicing concerns about the impact on costs and competition in the travel sports industry. The Town of Zebulon is hunting for a new operator for Five County Stadium.

Wake County and the Town of Zebulon are working together to seek proposals from qualified entities to lease and operate the stadium and the surrounding property.

The news comes after the Carolina Mudcats, the Carolina League baseball team that played at the stadium since 1991, announced a move to Wilson. The team will rebrand as the Wilson Warbirds.

Last year, Wilson leaders voted unanimously to approve a $69 million plan to build a new ballpark for the team near Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park. Wilson plans to have the new stadium ready for the team by the opening day of the 2026 season.

The Carolina Mudcats will have their last season at Five County Stadium in 2025. The first home game of the season is April 4 against the Fredericksburg Nationals. [WRAL News]
