Appalachian State University (ASU) in Boone, N.C., will use its allocation from a sports wagering tax to help pay for a $29 million on-campus indoor practice facility.
The University of North Carolina (UNC) Board of Governors on Nov. 13 approved ASU's funding proposal for the 85,000-sq.-ft. athletic facility, of which $3.3 million, or 11 percent, comes from the sports wagering allocation, the Winston-Salem Journal reported Nov. 19.
The new practice center will be adjacent to Kidd Brewer Stadium and will replace both the current Sofield Family indoor practice facility and the school's nearby softball field. [Construction Equipment Guide]
Princeton High School’s Pat Mancuso Field at Jake Sweeney Automotive Stadium is scheduled to close to the public starting Dec. 21 for what will eventually be the start of a $22 million upgrade project focusing on safety, accessibility and facility improvements, Princeton City Schools announced Monday morning.
The initial construction date is still being determined. The Princeton athletic department intends to host the Princeton track and field invitational April 12, 2025 with spectators.

Bemidji High School has crafted a plan to improve its existing athletic facilities through the creation of new fields and by updating its existing spaces.
The three-phase outline, which is funded entirely by donations, is aimed at bringing Lumberjack athletics back to the BHS campus. It’s dubbed the “Bring it Home” project.
Bemidji administrators aim to build a new football and multi-purpose stadium with turf, a new grass soccer field and two new softball fields, along with a myriad of other facilities improvements that will centralize Bemidji’s local athletics.
BHS has set up a component fund with local nonprofit the Northwest Minnesota Foundation and has already broken ground on phase one.
The initial cost of the project was estimated at $3.8 million, though rising costs have increased the estimate to over $4 million. Due to Bemidji’s multi-phase approach, the cost will likely shift as the school works to fund each part of the project. [Bemidji Pioneer]
