The Indian Trails Aquatic Center at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park, originally built in 1976, has been serving the Lenexa Community for generations. In 1996, WTI was engaged for the first set of renovations and — nearly three decades later — was hired alongside the prime architect to enhance and modernize the facility, protecting the future of Lenexa’s investment in aquatics. Designed with the community and operations in mind, the recently renamed Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center provides ample open water and attractive amenities while preserving its beloved history. Two bodies of water co-exist in the operational environment, providing energy-saving benefits and accommodating multifaceted programs such as learn-to-swim, swim teams, dive teams and water fitness. The multi-use lifestyle pool includes a beach entry with a passive play area, and an active spray play zone, linking the shallow water to the current channel. Scattered sprays and conversation alcoves can be found along the channel. The 8-lane, 25-meter competition pool is also intended for water aerobics, training and lap swimming. The adjacent diving well features 1- and 3-meter platforms and aquatic climbing walls. The 30-foot-tall slide tower features two waterslides.
