The Washington Community Swim Center was completely replaced and enhanced to focus on recreation, water play, swim lessons and therapeutic uses. Recognizing that other local pools met competitive and lap swimming needs, the center prioritized family-oriented aquatics experiences. The renovation includes a new pool and deck, as well as upgraded community, locker room and maintenance buildings. The facility was designed to engage people of all ages and abilities, featuring a zero-depth-entry pool, an accessible splash pad and additional family-friendly restrooms. The versatile, U-shaped hybrid pool and shaded picnic areas provide an inclusive space for swim lessons, recreational swimming, water play and therapeutic activities, creating a one-stop destination for families. Additional features include a family observation area, a multipurpose room for events and training, a lifeguard control room, and spaces for staffing and registration. With its inclusive design and diverse offerings, the Washington Community Swim Center ensures a welcoming, engaging aquatics environment for all ages, continuing Sunnyvale’s tradition of fostering community and wellness.
