A man was arrested Wednesday after he randomly attacked gym members at a Planet Fitness location in Manteca, Calif.

According to KCRA, a 41-year-old transient man entered the Planet Fitness on West Yosemite Avenue and grabbed a female gym member that he did not know by the hair.

Other gym members came to her aid and subdued the man, bringing him to the ground and holding him there until Manteca Police officers arrived.

The suspect, identified as Trumaine Lavel Walden, was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County jail for battery on a person and a probation violation.

Officials said no weapons were involved in the crime. Walden did have a bendable rubber and plastic light-up toy on his person that a community member mistook as a machete, but it was not used in the crime.

“It is important for the public to understand how toy imitation weapons can be mistaken for actual weapons. And that police officers have to make split second decisions when faced with such items. The police department recommends the public not carry or display such items in public,” wrote the police department.
