The Denver Nuggets and Kroenke Sports Charities are now the signature community partners of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver. As a part of this partnership, the Denver Nuggets are committed to a three-year sponsorship. They unveiled a new scoreboard and sponsorship banner in the club’s gym this week.
This new partnership is a major step forward in an existing relationship between the club and the Nuggets as the NBA team sponsored a new outdoor sports court in 2023 and donated to renovate the club’s STEM lab too.
According to NBA News, the KSC board chair Mike Neary said, “Kroenke Sports Charities works to improve lives through the spirit and power of sports. The Nuggets have partnered with Boys & Girls Club since the Team moved to the NBA in 1967. On a daily basis, hundreds of youth visit Johnson Boys & Girls Club to learn, play, and meet new friends and mentors. We are proud to make the Arthur E. Johnson Club a Signature Community Partner.”
Following the unveiling of the scoreboard, the director of youth basketball and the Denver Nuggets basketball academy led a youth basketball clinic for club members.
The CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver, Erin Porteous, said, “This partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to empower and inspire the youth of Metro Denver. Sports programs at our Clubs play a crucial role in youth development, fostering teamwork, leadership, and healthy lifestyles. The support from Kroenke Sports Charities and the Denver Nuggets will enhance our ability to provide these vital experiences. By improving our facilities and offering unique opportunities like the basketball clinic, we're not just teaching sports skills – we're building character, confidence, and a sense of community among our young members."
The event aligned with the 2024 Jr. NBA Week, which runs from Oct. 12-18. The goal of Jr. NBA Week is to bring a positive impact to youth basketball and expose young players to the sport all while celebrating the development of the sport.
