Texas Tech University is changing the way student-athletes think about NIL deals. The Matador Club, and a new partnership from Two Docs Brewing, allow student-athletes to reach pay day while supporting non-profits and local businesses. And what could pair better with college football, than a good beer?

Two Docs Brewing in Lubbock, Texas is unveiling the new Raiderland Red Pale Ale. Proceeds from the sale of this school-themed beer will all go toward the Matador Club and supporting student-athletes. The beer will be sold in Texas Tech stadiums, local grocery stores and local restaurants.

β€œAs a lifelong, die-hard Red Raider, this agreement is an absolute dream come true. From going to football games at Jones AT&T Stadium as some of my first childhood memories, to becoming a student-athlete and proud graduate,” Eric Cunningham, co-founder of Two Docs Brewing Co, told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

The Matador Club is the official NIL collective of Texas Tech Athletics. Rather than students entering contracts with big-name brands, the Matador Club gives students financial support to promote local charities, non-profits and businesses. The students can post online, make in-person appearances or do other things to support the organizations partnered with Matador Club.

Through this system, athletes can build a personal brand built on values. Alumni and other interested organizations can donate to the Matador Club to support the student-athletes in the program.

β€œWe look forward to having Raiderland Red Pale Ale available in many of our venues this upcoming year and developing this sponsorship agreement to truly impact our student athletes through NIL resources,” said Kirby Hocutt, director of athletics.

The Texas Tech Raiders kick off their football season against Abilene Christian on August 31, and fans can hold their cups of Raiderland Red Pale Ale high as they cheer on the Red Raiders and support their financial goals.
