KC Current Building Second Riverfront Stadium in Time for World Cup

The KC Current women’s soccer team is planning to build a second riverfront soccer stadium, this time on the north side of the Missouri River.

The Riverside Board of Aldermen approved a $16.8 million plan this week for an expansion to the Current’s training complex off Horizons Parkway with a 2,000-seat outdoor stadium and a 17,000 square-foot performance center with indoor and outdoor training areas, locker rooms, a player lounge and a multipurpose room.

The plan would also include a sales tax exemption for construction materials.

Further details were not immediately available. The Current had no comment as of Friday afternoon.

'Largest Indoor Pickleball Facility the World Has Ever Seen' Coming to Columbus

One of the largest indoor pickleball facilities in the world is set to open this fall on Columbus' Far East Side, the local creators told The Dispatch.

Match Point Pickleball Club will cater to local players of the fastest-growing sport in the U.S. and host national tournaments. The facility will occupy 125,000 square feet, more than half the 250,000-square-foot warehouse/manufacturing building at 350 McCormick Blvd., located off the north side of Brice Road North, across the road from the back of the Menard's store on East Broad Street.

With 38 indoor courts, Match Point will have more indoor courts than any other facility in the world, said Bill Taylor, operations manager and head pro at Match Point. It could only be rivaled by a proposed 50-court facility in Phoenix slated to open in 2026.
